On Difference as Such
2014, 12′, HD, colour, English and Dutch with English subtitles

Two filmmakers attempt to portray each other: a mutual gaze to lessen the
gap that divides two people. An act of love. Like love, portrayal hinges on an exchange that is mutual but not equal. As the viewer follows the two women through nature and buildings, a letter is being read to us describing the experience of creating the images we see.

A Tongue Called Mother
2019, DCP, colour, 25′

A Tongue Called Mother depicts the relationship between language, gestures and affiliation. It slowly captures the actions and words of three generations of women in the same family and children learning to read, meditating on words learnt and forgotten through the body.

Ready-mades with Interest
25 min, HD, colour, 2017

When the filmmaker found a 1967 concert ticket in Vienna, this set her on a musico-historical journey in Austria that eventually led her back home to Scotland. Whilst she traced the information on the ticket and the history behind it, a letter arrived from her father that prompted a grander investigation into the sociopolitical backdrop of the music played that night.

Post Post-Scriptum
2017, A5 publication of facsimiles with annotations, colour.

Post Post Scriptum is a publication that was made in dialogue with the film Ready-mades with Interest, written after editing the film. In the film,
Arthur’s father guides her around Vienna with his knowledge of its past.
In PPS, she takes his hand and walks with him through the scenes of the film. She reproduces his letter as an image, an homage to his writing, and meets it with annotations that reflect on her off-screen experience filming in Vienna and her editing process with his voice and her images.

Magic, a portrait of Joris
2018 colour, digitized VHS and 8mm, 15′

In Magic, a portrait of Joris images sourced from different periods in time, are brought together. Worn out VHS footage filmed by the artists father is placed besides the images the artist filmed herself on 8mm. Both have the same subject, the boy as a son, for the other it is her brother. The desire to look and record is one and the same, however the shape it then assumes differs. By connecting images of then and now a new narrative of remembering is opened.
